Founded in 1948 Chermside Bowls Club has been located at it's present site at Bradbury Park for over fifty years. Many changes to the Club's facilities have taken place including the addition of a Function Room and most recently modernisation of the bar facilities. Further redevelopment plans are in the pipeline as we strive to meet the needs of our members and guests.
In the tradition of all great clubs, Chermside became what it is today because of its people and in particular the people who guided it through the development years when it grew like topsy. That is not to say that the people who are guiding its destiny today are not equally club minded but that is how a Club's Heritage is formed. The acquisition of the reputation of "The Friendly Club" was formed as there were several principals followed in the early years which have continued and they were:
- A new member or visitor is always to be treated as he or she would be in your own home i.e. as part of the family.
- No Cliques. If you enter the club on your own you are welcome to join any group.
- Selection policy is to mix players around to meet a vast range of other members
Allan Emslie has recently been appointed our new Patron. Ron Ford has stepped down after a long standing in this position and along with many others has assisted in moulding the club into what it is today.
As with any club our strength is achieved through our members and their countless hours in which they donate their time to ensure that the club is run as efficiently as possible.
